Our Plans
During the 2011-2012 school year we will offer grades PreK-9 with most of the teaching done by parent volunteers. Teacher volunteers are carefully screened, given a full background check, and are given training and guidance in order to help them be competent in their teaching. Our teacher volunteers have proven to be highly competent in their fields, and the students have responded well and demonstrated high academic achievement under them.
Some of the critera that we look at as being most important are that they evidence a knowledge of the gospel, a knowledge of what they teach, and a knowledge of teaching methods. We ask all Aletheia parents to invest their time in the school, whether it be as a teacher volunteer, or by helping in other ways.
High schoolers at Aletheia will be taking most of their classes on Tuesdays and will participate in study halls where they can receive help and direction if/when they need it on other days of the week. (Math and Spanish classes will be held on several days throughout the week). It is our desire to be able to offer the Peoria area an affordable high school alternative in the coming years.
Our Pre-K class will be held from 9:00am to 12:00 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and will focus on pre-reading and math skills, as well as art, music, music with motion, Bible, and play. This class will be primarily for 4-year-olds who will be attending kindergarten at Aletheia the following year. Space is very limited for preschool in 2012-13, so register early if you want to reserve a slot for your child. We will keep a waiting list, also.
If you are interested in Aletheia, please contact the school and ask the headmaster to schedule a school visit. We also have occasional programs, dinners, and school assemblies. As a 501(c)3 organization, we are always working toward developing relationships with individuals and corporations who share our vision for classical education.
