Our Plans

Aletheia School officially began in September 2002 with one Kindergarten class and a combined second/third grade class. In the fall of 2004, the model of school shifted to a four hour a day school day, with grades K-3. Aletheia was staffed with several paid part-time teachers, several volunteer teachers, and a school headmaster who was hired in December of 2004.

In the 2008-2009 school year we offer grades PreK-9 with most of the teaching done by parent volunteers. Teacher volunteers are carefully screened, given a full background check, and are given training and guidance in order to help them be competent in their teaching. Our teacher volunteers have proven to be highly competent in their fields, and the students have responded well and demonstrated high academic achievement under them.

Some of the critera that we look at as being most important are that they evidence a knowledge of the gospel, a knowledge of what they teach, and a knowledge of teaching methods. We ask all Aletheia parents to invest their time in the school, whether it be as a teacher volunteer, or by helping in other ways.

In 2008, we are also adding a preschool for 4 and 5 year-olds.  Preschool will be held from 10-12 Monday through Thursday and will focus on pre-reading and math skills, as well as art, music, Bible, and play.  Preschool classes will be offered free of charge to any teaching parent who has need of childcare while they teach.

We are also, for the first time, opening a few of our classes to the homeschooling public!  If you are interested in geometry, logic, or Omnibus (a history/literature/writing course), please contact the headmaster.   (7th-10th grades, only, please).

Our plan is to expand one grade per year, and graduate our first high school class in May of 2012. Juniors and Seniors will be able to utilize the resources of local community colleges, as well as in-house classes.

If you are interested in Aletheia, please contact the school and ask the headmaster for information on a school visit, and about promotional dinners and school assembly times. As a 501(c)3 organization, we are always working toward developing relationships with individuals and corporations who share our vision for classical education.
