Our History
- Two men began meeting in 2001 to discuss the possibility of beginning a classical Christian school in Hanna City, Illinois. Over the next year, God added another family to the Aletheia team and the vision began to take shape. But while we had a vision and a mission, we had no students and no teacher! Praying that God would provide a teacher if it was His will for the school to begin, these three families saw an amazing answer to prayer in the provision of Aletheia's first full-time teacher for the Kindergarten class.
- School began in the fall of 2002 with three kindergarten students, a second grade student, and a third grade student. The half-day kindergarten was taught by a paid teacher and the second and third graders were taught by a volunteer who was also a mother of one of the students. We had two campuses in our first year, Aletheia East and West. In the spring of 2003, the board voted to begin planning on moving the school to West Peoria where the encouragement of a local church could be secured, along with a greater population of possible students. Later that summer, permission was secured to meet in the facility of Redeemer Presbyterian Church (PCA) whose new building is situated along Kickapoo Creek Rd. in Peoria county.
- Since then enrollment at Aletheia has grown slowly but steadily. For the 2004-2005 school year we had five teachers that teach in five classrooms. For the 2005-2006 school year we offered grades K-6, and enrollment continuted to increase.
- For the 2006-2007 school year the growing enrollment continued as we moved to a new facility in West Peoria. Grades K-7 were offered.
- For 2007-2008 school year we continued to grow and went to K-8. Our commitment to parent involvement and small class sizes will continue to make Aletheia unique as we train students to know the truth, and to live the truth.
